Visiting Elks

Medical treatment:

While medical treatment is not one of those things that you would expect to see listed in a section like this, we would like to provide some information regarding emergency medical treatment in case the need arises while you are visiting our area. Our local hospital is

            Sierra Nevada
            Memorial Hospital
            155 Glasson Way
            Grass Valley, CA 95945
            530-274-6000

This is a very highly rated hospital with outstanding service in the area of cardiac and other emergency treatments. They have a 24 hour advice Nurse at 274-6877.

As is the case with most hospitals, the emergency room might be inpacted with non-emergency type service requests and the wait might be prolonged. For non-critical emergency needs, we have a local clinic known as:

            YUBAdocs
            2090 Nevada City Hwy
            Grass Valley, CA 95945
            530-274-5020

They accept walk-in urgent care. It is open 7 days a week, 8 - 6 on weekdays and 9-4 on weekends. It is faster, more relaxed, and less expensive than the normal hospital emergency room.

Now for the fun things:

Fishing
Fly Fishing Nevada City is in the heart of some the best fishing opportunities in the State. Our local waters are noted for the abundance of trout (rainbow, brown, and brook), steelhead, salmon, shad and bass. We have a diverse availability of fishing opportunities from streams, rivers and lakes all within a short distance from Nevada City. Gold Panning
Gold Panning Nevada City is in the heart of the Mother Lode district of the Sierra Nevada Mountain Range. It is said that this was the largest producing Gold area in the Mother Lode. During the gold rush, the waterways in the area were shoulder to shoulder gold panners trying to strike it rich. They took alot of gold from this area, but there is still gold present. Many people in the area still go down to the creeks and rivers and pan for gold during their free time. It's a free activity (just the cost of a pan) and alot of fun. You can go to the Bridgeport area of the South Yuba River State Park which is about a 20 minute drive from the lodge and they will show you how to do it. The South fork of the Yuba River runs throught the park and you can try your hand there.
